Meaningful Moments to Lasting Impact

Ava C, President of the Bloomfield High School chapter, reflects on how the small moments through her GlamourGals chapter have left a lasting impact on her life.

I still remember walking into my high school’s club fair as a freshman, and hearing someone mention a club where students visit senior homes and provide manicures to residents. It sounded like a fun way to give back to my community and I signed up. During my freshman year, I loved attending visits and getting to know seniors at events like the Senior-to-Senior Prom and distributing flowers on Valentine's Day. At the end of the year, our chapter president encouraged me to run for Vice President. I was both honored and nervous, but that moment gave me the confidence to step into leadership.

As I continued on, eventually becoming President, I worked to grow our chapter to create impactful experiences for both volunteers and seniors. The impact GlamourGals had on me was so powerful that I encouraged many friends and classmates to join our chapter and support seniors through the My Dear Friend card-writing initiative. Together, we wrote dozens of heartfelt letters to seniors across the country, leading our chapter to win the card-writing contest and earn a special visit from Rachel. Moments like that are why GlamourGals means so much to me. It’s not just about manicures, it’s about connection, confidence, and community.
