Purpose through Connection

Serena S, President of the Stevenson High School chapter, reflects on how GlamourGals showed her purpose through the connections she made with seniors.

From the moment I walked into Willow Pines Retirement Community, I felt a sense of belonging. The warmth of the environment and the genuine kindness of the residents left a lasting impression on me. One resident in particular, Carol, has profoundly shaped my experience. Having battled cancer, Carol has a great strength that is both humbling and inspiring. Our conversations have become something I cherish. She offers me wisdom and treats me with a kindness that feels familiar.

GlamourGals has led me to meet so many people like Carol. Those afternoon visits, painting nails, listening, and laughing, showed me that care isn’t just about treating the body, but about generating connections. I realized the impact loneliness has on health, affecting emotional and physical well-being just as deeply as any illness. GlamourGals has driven my passion for healthcare and shapes how I want to practice it with empathy, presence, and purpose.
