Frequently Asked Questions
Registration & Chapter Standards
What do I need to start a GlamourGals chapter?
Start by taking our pre-registration quiz! It'll point you to the right resources to prepare, or straight to our registration form if you're ready. To register, you'll need at least two student leaders, a senior home partner (a home or center plus a main contact, usually the Activities Director), and, for high school chapters only, an advisor. Our leader recruitment, advisor, and senior home outreach resources walk you through each step. Thousands of chapters started exactly where you are, so tackle one piece at a time!
When is the last day I can register a new chapter?
Your new chapter registration must be submitted October 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET.
Can I register after October 31 for the current service year?
Unfortunately, no. Registration for the following service year (Aug 2027–April 2028) opens in summer 2027. We keep this deadline so we can give every chapter our very best support from day one. In the meantime, join our waitlist and start gathering your building blocks (leaders, a senior home partner, and an advisor if you're in high school) so you're ready to go next year. We can't wait to welcome you!
What's the difference between an "active" and "inactive" chapter?
An active chapter has met the chapter standards or is on track to meet them by the end of the service year. If you can log into the GlamourGals website, you're active!
An inactive chapter has missed a requirement deadline: either the registration fee wasn't paid by November 1, 2026, or the chapter standards weren't met by April 30, 2027. Inactive chapters are at risk of deactivation, which means losing access to GG National support, supplies, volunteer-only activities, rewards, and scholarships. If your chapter is falling behind, reach out to us. We're here to help you get back on track!
What are chapter standards, and what does my chapter need to do to stay active?
These standards are what make a chapter an official, active GlamourGals chapter, and they're also what make the experience meaningful for you and your seniors. Here's what to complete each service year:
- Team: Fill all 4 leadership roles (President, Vice President, Public Relations Officer, and Treasurer), with one person per role. High school chapters also need a school advisor (encouraged for college chapters too).
- Volunteers: Have at least 10 volunteers, including your leaders.
- Service: Complete at least 4 senior home visits, host at least 4 chapter meetings, and earn at least 1 Intergenerational Service Award (IGSA).
- Fee: Pay the $150 registration fee by November 1, 2026.
All other standards must be met by the end of the service year, April 30, 2027. Chapters that miss either deadline become inactive and are at risk of deactivation. Unpaid fees lead to deactivation on December 15, 2026, so if you're having trouble paying, contact us by December 1 and we'll help you figure it out. Meeting these standards also makes your leaders eligible for leadership certificates! For more information, see our Resources page.
Does the 10 minimum required members of a chapter include the 4 student leaders (President, Vice President, Public Relations Officer, Treasurer)?
Yes. The four chapter leaders count toward the 10-member minimum. A chapter needs the four leaders plus at least six additional volunteers. The 10-member minimum is intended to be a sustainable size that gives leaders a team to work with rather than requiring them to do all the work themselves.
Can my chapter have more than 4 chapter leaders?
Chapters are required to have four student chapter leaders by the end of the year: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Public Relations Officer. Only one leader can be recognized per role. If two people want the same role, they should consider taking different roles. Additional students can still contribute outside of the official roles, such as helping the PR Officer with social media. If you have previously been approved to have more than one student fill one leadership role, please reach out to us at Chapters@glamourgals.org and we can discuss with your chapter to help find a solution, on a case-by-case basis.
What does the chapter registration fee cover?
The annual registration fee, required for all chapters, covers your chapter supplies and operational costs. It's what lets GG National provide training resources, programmatic support, and access to all our national campaigns and events. T-shirts aren't included this year, but exclusive GG tees will be available as optional add-ons, with new designs coming soon!
The fee is due November 1, 2026 and can be paid here: College chapter | High school chapter. You'll get an emailed receipt, and if you need a paid invoice, just let us know. For more details, visit our registration fee resource page.
How do I pay my chapter's registration fee?
The $150 chapter registration fee is required for all chapters, once per service year. There are two payment options: credit card through a Zeffy link, or by check through an invoice. If paying is a barrier, GlamourGals can work with chapters on fundraising or potentially provide an extension if contacted before the deadline. Schools may also pay the chapter fee for their clubs. See here to pay via credit card: High School Chapters. See here to pay via credit card: College Chapters. Email us at Chapters@glamourgals.org to request an invoice.
Special Packages
Who can request special packages?
It depends on the package. The Leadership Package can be requested by the Chapter President, while the Recruitment Package can be requested by either the President or Vice President.
How many times can each special package be requested?
Each special package can be requested once per year, per chapter. Pay attention to the specific date ranges of each package. For example, the My Dear Friend Card Writing Package will open in mid-October.
Service Hours
What counts towards service hours?
Attending and/or planning a GG Event (including Chapter Fundraiser, Chapter Leader Meeting, Chapter Meeting, My Dear Friend Card Writing Event, GG National Programming, Senior Home Visit, Chapter Recruitment Event). Hours are tracked in Chapters.GlamourGals.org through Service Reports. Chapter Leaders are responsible for submitting a service report after every event; this allows the volunteers that attended to earn their service hours.
Do journals count toward service hours?
Starting this year, journals do not count towards service hours. However, journals are still a key part of qualifying for awards like the Intergenerational Service Award (IGSA) and leadership awards, so don't skip them! Check out our journaling guide for tips on getting started.
Rewards & Recognition
What awards are available, and who can earn them?
There's something for everyone on your team!
- All volunteers: Intergenerational Service Award (IGSA)
- Chapter leaders: President, Vice President, Public Relations Officer, and Treasurer Leadership Awards
- Advisors: Chapter Advisor Leadership Award
Click any award to see what it takes to earn it, or browse all leadership rewards.
How do I earn the Intergenerational Service Award (IGSA)?
Between July 1, 2026 and April 30, 2027, complete two milestones: log 15 service hours and write 5 journals about your visits. Journals count separately from service hours, so you'll need both! See the IGSA page for full details.
